Coca-Cola bottles to sell sodas bottles made with 100% recycled plastic material

February 16, 2021

Coca-Cola Co. said it will begin selling its soda in bottles made with completely recycled plastic material to reduce its carbon footprint.

The company said it would debut 13.2-ounce 100% recycled polyethylene terephthalate bottles containing several of the company’s soda brands in California, Florida and some states in the Northeast.

Coca-Cola will also debut 20-ounce rPET bottles in California, New York and Texas beginning this month.

The company estimates the change to the new bottles will reduce 10,000 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions, or the equivalent, it said, of taking 2,120 cars off the road for one year.

The bottles will represent a 20% reduction in its use of new plastics across North America compared to 2018, the company said.
