State agencies are asking the public to avoid an area near Cheeney Creek in Fishers due to a sewage discharge investigation.

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management and Indiana Department of Natural Resources said they are responding to a sewage discharge and reports of a fish kill at Cheeney Creek near 106th Street and Eller Road in Fishers.

The area is east of the 106th Street Lift Station, the White River, Heritage Park at White River and many residential areas.

The extent of the discharge has not yet been disclosed.
