Madison County group seeks volunteers for Pendleton tree planting

October 5, 2020

A Madison County organization is seeking volunteers to plant hundreds of trees to replace others destroyed by a tornado in 2019.

An EF-2 tornado touched down near the town of Pendleton on May 27, 2019, injuring one person. The tornado blew down many trees and hurled them onto nearby homes and buildings.

The South Madison Community Foundation is looking for two- and three-person teams of volunteers to plant 300 trees in Pendleton’s Falls Park on Saturday, Oct. 24.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resource’s Division of Forestry has put out a call to tree stewards, tree boards and Tree City USA communities to form teams for the planting.

For more information about the planting, head to the South Madison Community Foundation website or contact Sue Patton by phone at (765) 778-8444 or by email here popup:yes.
